Composed and compiled over five weeks in West Cornwall, on mainland England’s extreme southwestern edge, ‘Kernow’ melds soundscapes created in-studio with field recordings collected in and near seven towns and villages on the Penwith peninsula. Although each soundscape could serve as a stand-alone piece, the work is offered as a larger, classically inspired suite that attempts to fuse the natural sounds of Cornish autumn with the compositional elements that they inspire.
